Journaling Day8

As a Scientist

I have worked as a scientist since April 2021.

The duration of training is around 5 months.

It is so long and boring time for me because our boss enforces us to do a lot of chores such as sealing to tubes.

I don't want to do that. This is a just worker. Just... Not a scientist.

Although I have studied biochemistry for 6 years, it seems to be a waste of time.

I cannot stand it anymore.

Article Review Day2

Loss of FBP1 facilitates aggressive features of hepatocellular carcinoma cells through the Warburg effect

I got some new insight through this article.

The first is that FBP1 was reported to be poorly expressed in lung cancer tissues and cells.

The second is that restoration of FBP1 reduced growth, invasion and glycolysis in lung cancer cells.

The third is that FBP1 is also downregulated in gastric carcinomas and gastric cancer cells.

The fourth is that loss of FBP1-mediated metabolic reprogramming resulted in an increased cancer stem cell-like property and tumorigenicity by enhancing the interaction of b-catenin with T-cell factor in breast cancer.

The fifth is that FBP1 restrained cell proliferation and glycolysis by inhibiting nuclear HIF-1a function via direct interaction with the HIF inhibitory domain.

Today's Drink

I recommend you Tapioca Latte.

Because this drink is very delicious and includes brown sugar which is good for health.

You can buy it at Seven-Eleven so very easy to get it.

Today, I went to Seven-Eleven to buy my lunch, where I saw new energy drinks so I bought two of them.

After I came back home, I tasted one of them.

It is not bad, but I will never buy it because of the amount of caffeine.

Its volume is 500mL including only 70mg of caffeine.

I think 70mg of caffeine is a very small amount. For example, a big size Monster Energy has 200mg.

That's why I will never buy it,

Drinks I Love

10min ~45

I love energy drinks such as Monster Energy and Red Bull.

I drink them almost every day because they make us powerful, but they are a little bit expensive.

In addition, they include caffeine which is a little bit dangerous.

In Japan, they include less caffeine rather than American ones.

American ones are very strong so very dangerous. Therefore, we must take care of the volumes of caffeine.

About SIX1

I read an article about SIX1.

This is a very interesting article because of the author focusing points.

Therefore, I will introduce this article in our journal club.

Maybe, it will be held in June if the emergency declaration is lifted as scheduled.

SIX1 is a transcription factor and a key regulator of organogenesis.

It binds to the genome to promote the expression of glycolytic genes and recruits HBO1 and AIB1

to interact with them.

The complex enhances the expression of glycolytic genes, which promotes the Warburg Effect and tumor growth.

HBO1 and AIB1 are known as a histone acetyltransferase.

HBO1 inhibits the transcriptional activity of NF-kB.

AIB1 was shown to interact with HIF-1a to promote the expression of some genes.

HIF-1a and c-Myc promote the expression of glycolytic genes such as HK2 and PKM2.
