On Thursday (May 9), the six residents of the station noticed frozen flakes ofaffixed to one of the eight solar arrays responsible for supplying power to the station. The crew is in no danger, NASA officials say, but if the leak continues, it could cause a shutdown in the loop, possibly preventing the array from generating power.

Space station commander Chris Hadfield of the Canadian Space Agency announced the possibility of the emergency spacewalk via Twitter (where he posts as @Cmdr_Hadfield) early on Friday. []

"Good Morning, Earth! Big change in plans, spacewalk tomorrow, Chris Cassidy and Tom Marshburn are getting suits and airlock ready," Hadfield wrote. "Cool!"

NASA has not yet made an official decision on whether to conduct the spacewalk, and is still investigating the problem.

"The crew is not in danger, and the station continues to operate normally otherwise," agency officials wrote today in a statement. "Work is underway to reroute power channels to maintain full operation of the systems normally controlled by the solar array that is cooled by the suspect loop."

If the spacewalk goes forward, Cassidy and Marshburn both NASA astronauts will float outside the station to inspect the leak and possibly attempt to fix it.

"Suddenly very busy! Ammonia leak on the outside of station means that Cassidy and I will be doing a spacewalk tomorrow to try and repair it," Marshburn posted on Twitter (@AstroMarshburn) Friday.

This is not the first time space station crewmembers have . Last year, NASA's Sunita Williams and Japanese spaceflyer Akihiko Hoshidu took a spacewalk to troubleshoot a leak in a coolant loop on the station's Port 6 truss (its scaffolding-like backbone). The 2012was in the same loop as the current leak, but engineers don't yet know if the two leaks are related.

On the ground, astronauts Terry Virts of NASA and Samantha Cristoforetti of the European Space Agency are practicing the routine for tomorrow's potential spacewalk in the Johnson Space Center's Neutral Buoyancy Lab in Houston. This lab is a giant swimming pool that holds a full-scale mock-up of the International Space Stationused for astronaut training.

"@AstroSamantha and I are doing a dry run in the NBL for tomorrow's planned Spacewalk, looking for the ammonia leak," Virts wrote on Twitter (@AstroTerry).

Hadfield, Marshburn and Cassidy are part of the station's Expedition 35 crew, along with Russian cosmonauts Roman Romanenko, Pavel Vinogradov and Alexander Misurkin.

Romanenko, Marshburn and Hadfield are scheduled to leave the space station on Monday (May 13) to return to Earth after close to five months aboard the $100 billion orbiting outpost. On May 28, three new crewmembers are expected to launch from Kazakhstan to join Vinogradov, Misurkin and Cassidy on the station.

The 63-year-old Sharif, who has twice served as premier, touted his success after unofficial, partial vote counts showed his Pakistan Muslim League-N party with an overwhelming lead. The party weathered a strong campaign by former cricket star Imran Khan that energized Pakistan's young people.

Sharif expressed a desire to work with all parties to solve the country's problems in a victory speech given to his supporters in the eastern city of Lahore as his lead in the national election became apparent based on vote counts announced by Pakistan state TV.

The results, which need to be officially confirmed, indicated Sharif's party has an overwhelming lead but would fall short of winning a majority of the 272 directly elected national assembly seats. That means he would have to put together a ruling coalition.

"I appeal to all to come sit with me at the table so that this nation can get rid of this curse of power cuts, inflation and unemployment," Sharif said, as his supporters clapped, cheered and danced in the streets.

Despite attacks against candidates, party workers and voters that killed 29 people Saturday, Pakistanis turned out in large numbers to elect the national and provincial assemblies. The high participation was a sign of Pakistanis' desire for change after years of hardship under the outgoing government, and it offered a sharp rebuke to Taliban militants and others who have tried to derail the election with attacks that have killed more than 150 people in recent weeks.

"Our country is in big trouble," said Mohammad Ali, a shopkeeper who voted in Lahore. "Our people are jobless. Our business is badly affected. We are dying every day."

The vote marked the first time a civilian government has completed its full five-year term and transferred power in democratic elections in a country that has experienced three coups and constant political instability since it was established in 1947.

The election was being watched closely by the United States, which relies on the nuclear-armed country of 180 million people for help fighting Islamic militants and negotiating an end to the war in neighboring Afghanistan.

Passion and energy were seen throughout Pakistan, as millions of people headed to the polls, waving flags and chanting slogans in support of their party. Some were young, first-time voters and others elderly Pakistanis who leaned on canes or friends for support as they dropped their vote in the ballot box.

One man, Bilal Masih, even came to a polling station in the central city of Multan dressed in his wedding attire, saying his bride could wait until he voted. He decorated his wedding car with flowers and a stuffed tiger, the symbol of the Pakistan Muslim League-N party he supports.

"I thought that this was my national duty," said Masih, who was wearing a white and red turban and had garlands of flowers around his neck.

The Pakistani Taliban, which has been waging a bloody insurgency against the government for years, tried to disrupt the election because the militants believe the country's democracy runs counter to Islam. The government responded by deploying an estimated 600,000 security personnel across the country to protect polling sites and voters.

Many Pakistanis seemed determined to cast their ballots despite a series of gun and bomb attacks.

"Yes, there are fears. But what should we do?" said Ali Khan, who was waiting to vote in the northwestern city of Peshawar, where one of the blasts took place. "Either we sit in our house and let the terrorism go on, or we come out of our homes, cast our vote, and bring in a government that can solve this problem of terrorism."

Many of the attacks in the run-up to the vote targeted secular parties. That raised concern the violence could benefit hard-line Islamists and others who take a softer line toward the militants, like Sharif and Khan, because they were able to campaign more freely.

The chief of Pakistan's election commission, Fakhruddin Ebrahim, said turnout was near 60 percent of registered voters, the highest since the 1970 election. Many Pakistanis expressed pride that so many of their fellow citizens chose to vote.

"More political activity means more awareness," said Nasira Jibran in Lahore. "More awareness means more accountability."

The apparent victor, Sharif, is the son of a wealthy industrialist, and his party is seen to have a pro-business stance. He is perhaps best known for testing Pakistan's first nuclear weapon in 1998.

Sharif was toppled in a military coup by then-army chief Gen. Pervez Musharraf in 1999 and spent years in exile in Saudi Arabia before returning to the country in 2007. His party came in second in the 2008 elections to the Pakistan People's Party and is seen as more religiously conservative.

Sharif faced a strong challenge from Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party. The winner of the 1992 cricket World Cup tapped into the frustrations of many Pakistani youths fed up with the country's traditional politicians.

"It's now our turn. We youngsters want our say in national affairs," said voter Rubina Riaz in Lahore.

Khan couldn't vote Saturday because he was in the hospital following a horrific accident this week at a campaign event in Lahore in which he fell off a forklift and broke three vertebrae and a rib.

Sharif countered the challenge from Khan by pointing out how much more experience in government he has and touting key projects he completed while in office, including a highway between the capital Islamabad and his hometown of Lahore.

"It's all about delivering," said Nayyar Naseem, a voter in Lahore. "Nawaz Sharif has delivered. He is experienced."

Sharif also relied on old-style Pakistani politics, which focuses on doling out political patronage, such as government jobs, to win the loyalty of voters.

The battleground between Sharif and Khan was in Pakistan's most populous province, Punjab, where both parties appealed to urban middle class voters. The province contains nearly half of the 272 directly-elected seats in the national assembly.

The outgoing Pakistan People's Party was expected to fare poorly in the election because of unhappiness with its performance leading the last government. The party, which rose to power in 2008 in part by widespread sympathy after the death of party leader Benazir Bhutto, has carried out what many called a lackluster campaign.

The vote in the southern city of Karachi was not only marred by violence Saturday, but also threats to election commission staff. The commission said it would re-do the vote at 40 polling stations in one constituency in the city.

Sharif inherits a country struggling on a number of fronts. Pakistanis suffer from rolling blackouts that can be as long as 18 hours a day as well as a stuttering economy. The government's shaky financial situation means it will likely have to seek another unpopular bailout from the International Monetary Fund.

The country is also battling Taliban militants who want to overthrow the government, while on the western border there are fears that a U.S. military departure from Afghanistan will send violence spilling over into Pakistan.

Sharif has favored negotiations with militants in the country's tribal areas. That could put him at odds with the country's powerful military, potentially exacerbating a relationship that is already prickly because of the coup carried out against the former prime minister.

While Pakistan has been under civilian rule for the last five years, the military still is considered the country's most powerful institution and usually makes the major decisions when it comes to militancy or foreign policy issues such as Afghanistan or India.

In what appeared to be a show of support for democracy in Pakistan, the country's most powerful military officer, Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, went to the voting booth himself instead of mailing in his ballot. His gesture was broadcast live on local TV.

Cenovus said margins improved in the first quarter as the discount on the Canadian heavy crude processed by its refineries in Illinois and Texas increased 49 percent from a year earlier.

During the quarter, Canadian heavy crude was trading at an average discount of $31.96 per barrel to the North American benchmark, West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the company said in a statement.

Cenovus said its oil production rose 15 percent in the quarter to 180,225 barrels a day. The company operates the Foster Creek and Christina Lake oil sands developments in northern Alberta in a joint venture with ConocoPhillips .

Its average realized oil price fell to $56.72 per barrel from $72.61 in the same period of last year.

But operating cash flow from refining almost doubled to C$524 million, the company said. Cenovus shares ownership with Phillips 66of refineries in Wood River, Illinois, and Borger, Texas. Overall cash flow, a glimpse into its ability to fund its projects, rose 7 percent to C$971 million.

"When our cash flow from heavy oil production is affected by low commodity prices, our refineries give us a financial advantage by turning that discounted crude into higher-value refined products," Cenovus Chief Executive Brian Ferguson said.

Cenovus reported first-quarter operating income, which excludes most one-time items, of C$391 million ($381 million), or 52 Canadian cents per share. This was ahead of the 48 Canadian cents that analysts had estimated, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

A year earlier, operating income was C$340 million, or 45 Canadian cents per share.

Net profit fell 60 percent to C$171 million, or 23 Canadian cents per share, due mainly to foreign exchange losses.

Cenovus forecast operating cash flow of C$250 million to C$350 million from its refining business in the second quarter, compared with C$344 million a year earlier.

Shares of the company, which has a market value of C$21.73 billion, closed at C$28.75 on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Tuesday.

LAGOS (Reuters) - Nigerian oil firm Oando is close to securing funds to buy ConocoPhillips' Nigerian assets, the company's chief executive said on Wednesday, as he looked to allay fears it is struggling to raise finance for the $1.79 billion deal.

Wale Tinubu told Reuters in an interview in Nigeria's commercial hub Lagos that the firm, having already raised the additional equity needed in February with a rights issue, now also has agreed in principle the necessary debt.

Oando has been looking for the past year to finance its transformation from a marketer of refined petroleum products into an upstream firm focused on oil and gas exploration and production.

The deal to acquire Conoco's fields, that were producing around 43,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) last year and have proven reserves of 213 million barrels of oil equivalent, is scheduled to close by mid-2013.

But analysts have questioned whether Oando can persuade investors to deliver the funds.

"We're confident in our ability to raise finance," Tinubu said. "Because we have a diverse group, we've been able to raise equity from our shareholders and extract value from parts of our business to reinvest in the upstream."

Tinubu also said that in reality the deal would only cost Oando around $1.5 billion, not the $1.79 billion headline figure. He declined to explain the discrepancy, but a source close to the deal said this was because of a net positive cash flow from the assets of $200-$300 million.

Tinubu said of the $1.5 billion cost around $725 million would come from debt.

"The debt is already arranged," he said, but he declined to name banks involved and said some details remained to be worked out. Banking sources say the debt will be in the form of a syndicated loan of international and Nigerian banks.

Tinubu said once Oando had completed its acquisitions the upstream business would account for about three quarters of its assets, against 40 percent now.

The ConocoPhillips deal is the latest of several sales of Nigerian onshore assets made by foreign oil companies and Brazil's Petrobras is now looking to sell $5 billion of assets.

"We would certainly be interested in considering it," Tinubu said when asked if Oando was interested in buying some of the Petrobas interests. "We know we will be approached by them," he added.

Political pressure from a government keen to have more indigenous firms operating fields plus rampant oil theft by armed gangs hacking into pipelines and potential liabilities from damaging oil spills have encouraged some foreign firms to slowly move out of onshore oil production.

But other firms like Britain's Afren and Nigerian firms like Seplat and Conoil are moving in, creating competition for Oando.

Tinubu said local companies like Oando were in a better position to handle issues with local communities.

"Being an indigenous company, we're better suited to handle the issue of theft and of community relations," he said.

Revis signed a six-year extension, which according to multiple media reports is worth $96 million.

In an unusual move, the deal includes no guaranteed money. Revis missed most of last season after tearing ligaments in his left knee.

In return for Revis the Jets received the Buccaneers' first round pick (13th overall) in Thursday's draft and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2014 that could become a third-round pick.

Taken with 14th overall pick in the 2007 draft by Jets, Revis has started all 79 games in which he has played and has racked up 241 tackles and 19 interceptions returning three touchdowns.

He missed only three games in five seasons prior to his 2012 injury and is one of only two cornerbacks to win an AFC Defensive Player of the Year award in the last 20 years.

The 68-year-old sportscaster was pulled over on Michigan Avenue in Santa Monica after two officers saw him make an illegal U-turn, Santa Monica Police Sergeant Rich Lewis told Reuters.

The officers administered a sobriety test after they observed that Michaels smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech, Lewis said. Michaels was arrested for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or greater, he said.

Sergeant Lewis declined to say what Michaels' blood alcohol content registered at, but he did say Michaels was "cooperative."

Michaels, a veteran play-by-play announcer for NBC's "Sunday Night Football," was arrested at 9:59 p.m. local time on Friday, according to the Los Angeles Inmate Information Center website.

He was released on Saturday and was scheduled to appear at the Los Angeles Municipal Court on June 26, according to the site.

Michaels was not immediately available for comment.

An NBC spokesman said, "we are aware of the situation and we've spoken to Al. We have no further comment at this time."

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Desperate for publicity, old-school Vegas magicians Burt Wonderstone (Steve Carrell) and Anton Marvelton (Steve Buscemi) decide to spend a week locked inside a plexiglass box suspended over the Vegas strip. "Remember," advises their assistant Jane (Olivia Wilde), "all you have to do is nothing."

It's a funny line, but one also suspects it was the production motto for "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone," a movie that always seems poised to deliver big laughs but, once the smoke and the pigeons clear, leaves you only with a mild chuckle or two.

The film falls squarely into the formula that Will Ferrell popularized - let's find something dorky and look at characters who take it totally seriously - but "Burt Wonderstone" can't decide if it wants to bury glitzy, cornball, Vegas-style magic or to praise it, resulting in a comedy that occasionally talks tough but ultimately reveals a bland, mushy center.

Our hero is introduced as an unpopular, bullied child; Lyle Workman's score goes into minor-key overdrive when poor little Albert (Mason Cook) gets beaten up on his birthday, only to come home to an empty house, a note from his working mom, a box of cake mix and one present. But that present turns out to be a magic kit endorsed by the legendary Rance Holloway (Alan Arkin), and the kid is hooked. (Any resemblance between Rance Holloway and Harry Blackstone Sr. is entirely intentional.)

Magic not only stimulates Albert's imagination, it's a way for him to bond with fellow outcast Anton, and the two become inseparable. A few decades later, they're headlining in Vegas with a show that spotlights their "Magical Friendship" - except that off-stage, they're hardly speaking. Burt has become absurdly vain and pompous, and their show, while still popular, is stale and repetitive.

Stealing their spotlight is Steve Gray (Jim Carrey), a "street magician" of the David Blaine-Criss Angel school, and while his shtick is more about self-mortification and less a matter of prestidigitation, audiences go wild for his TV show, "Mind Rape." Which leads to the Plexiglass-box incident, and after that goes awry, Anton leaves the act, leaving Burt to try to do the same show by himself, with no one filling in the other half of the dialogue.

Canned by hotel mogul Doug Munny (James Gandolfini), Burt is reduced to living in a shabby motel and entertaining at an old folks' home. (There's no transition from top of the heap to bottom of the barrel; the words "Reno," "Laughlin" and "Branson" are never spoken.) Will a chance encounter with the aged Rance Holloway help Burt get his magical mojo back?

Take a wild guess. Obviously, in a movie like this, it's about the journey and not the destination, but screenwriters Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley ("Horrible Bosses") and director Don Scardino keep the proceedings mild when they could be wild. Worse, they assign each character one or two defining traits, and then we see them indulge those flaws over and over and over again until they're not remotely funny anymore.

Carrell and Carrey are operating in their wheelhouses with these absurd showmen, but they're hemmed in by the script's limited parameters and they quickly grow tedious. Their redundant cartoonishness becomes so wearying that Wilde and Arkin wind up stealing the movie by underplaying.

We know from "The Prestige" and any number of other movies about magic that illusion is all about what you do while you're distracting the audience. It's too easy to look right through "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone," which means it can never really dazzle us.
