4th of July Celebration

Today was the first time in my life that I didn't spend the 4th of July stuck at home. My family and I went to a river in a far away place, up in the mountains of my hometown.

The place was really nice and quiet. All you could hear was the sound of the water flowing through the river and the trees. The best part was the the spot that we chose was all ours. Most Puerto Ricans spend this holiday at the beach, but I wanted to do something different.

It feels really nice to be surrounded by nature.

I was sad when I had to go back home but we were all really tired.Getting there was like a mini-adventure.

This was one of those days I will never forget.

My mini-vacation

I just returned home from a well deserved mini-vacation at my family's beach apartment.

This apartment is located at the north part of the island.You just have to cross the street and you'll be at the beach in less than a minute.

The apartment is small, but my family and I enjoy staying at this place.

The building is usually really quiet. We even leave the main door open.

It's good to be back home, but I'm going to miss the beach and spending time with my family.

Last day at work

Today is my last day working as an English teacher at my old high school. It's a very sad day for me because I really like the atmosphere, my co-workers and the facilities of the school (It's a "21st Century School"). I have made really great friends here and my boss is the best school principal in whole world. I'm trying to stay positive and smile.

Yes, I'm wearing a black dress because I was feeling down this morning. My smile is not very convincing but I try to be positive. All I can do now is pray that I get the job again.

Red as a tomato

I went to the beach last Friday with some of my co-workers and I got sunburned.I couldn't sleep well that night. WORST SUNBURN EVER! I can't wear sleeveless shirts because it looks disgusting.It was a fun day but the sunburn ruined it.As usual, I collected some seashells. I also found this heart shaped rock.

I drank Sangria (yay!!) and ate grilled homemade hamburguers. I heard funny and weird stories my co-workers and had a great time with them.

My first Comic Con

Today I went to the Puerto Rico Comic Con. It was a bit chaotic, but it was a fun experience that I really enjoyed. I had to wait an hour in line to get into the hall. My feet were killing me.But when I started seeing the merch booths and the cosplayers I forgot about my feet and the stupid long ass line.

These two put a lot of effort into their costume.It was definetely hand made. I took pics with Lara Croft and a Power Ranger. The best pictures are in my camera so I'm not going to post them here. Maybe later. Mehhhhh...

Teacher Appreciation Day

This is the gift I received for Teacher Appreciation Day:

This was given to me by the school principal. Every teacher received one of these cute cakes. After the meeting ended, the school principal told me that she didn't prepare a "goodbye speech" for me because she hopes I will get the position again next year. She reeeeeally wants me to return next year. I want to continue teaching at this school too, but unfortunately, that is not up to me. （Ｔ＿Ｔ）

I went to Sephora the other day and I bought myself some gifts.

The reason? I got a A on an oral report...and I bought those things because I deserve it! Lately I've been feeling stressed because of work (finals, writing reports, etc.).Shopping helps me relax. (^_-)☆

The school year is almost over...

...which means that soon I'll be unemployed again and I will be extremely bored at home. Yes, I'm a workaholic. I'm feeling kinda sad and nostalgic because I'll miss my students, the school,my boss, the secretary. Heck, I will even miss the janitors (I'm a friendly person ).

This classroom is so much better than it looked back when I was a student.

The colors on the walls don't make me feel like I'm in a prison.

I really liked this classroom. And my colleagues. They are the best.

I'm a busy teacher!!!

Yes, I have a new job!! I'm a high school English teacher. And the funny thing about my new job is that I'm working with the people who were my teachers a couple of years ago!! They were really surprised to see me. Some of them were like "Oh, it seems like it was just yesterday when you were walking through these halls wearing a school uniform", or "I'm so proud to see you have become a professional."

I really like my classroom. The walls are white and orange. The area where my classroom is located is really quite and there are lots of trees next to the building. Everything is so clean and new!!! It's like a dream.

I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow.

Now I have to say goodbye, 'cause I got some planning to do.

Car maintenance

Today I took my SUV for an oil change. (I was supposed to do that a month ago). This was my first time alone at an auto maintenance shop. I was nervous and didn't know what to answer when the repair guy asked what type of oil I wanted. (⊙＿⊙) I don't like to go to these kind of places alone because I don't want to be surrounded by men. (Haha, this sounds silly but if you live in my country you know what I mean). Oh well, there's always a first time for everything. At least now I can drive my SUV knowing that everything's alright.
