This is one of the greatest films ever made. Hands down. If you like movies and have yet to see this film. See it you will not be disappointed. The film has a little something for everyone in it. It follows the book The Godfather by Mario Puzzo. Basically, it is about Don Vito Corelone retiring as head of the family business and handing it to his son Michael. This movie is definitely at the top of my list. It is my favorite of the trilogy with Part 3 in a close second. Every part of this film is perfect. From the acting to the technical aspect. The AFI ranked this movie somewhere in the top five or ten films ever made. In my opinion it should be number one.

Fabulous film 10/10 stars.

I eventually saw this film as it is widely regarded as one of the best ever made. The hype and the 10/10 ratings ARE true. This is excellent! I saw Godfather 2 first as it deals with the young Vito in part so comes (chronologically) first in the series but part 1 is the best. From Marlon Brandos oscar-winning performance to Al Pacino (the true star) this film is practically perfect. Vitos demise, Michaels rise, the downfall and eventual success of the Corleone family - all perfectly plotted. Any film that can make you care for gangsters has to be doing something right. There are some dubious moral issues, but this is a movie - you watch it to be entertained. Who can forget the horses head scene, Sonnys assassination, even the oft-repeated quotes such as `I`m gonna make him an offer he can`t refuse. If you haven`t seen this film then watch it. I only wish I had seen this film earlier.

I'm shocked that there are fully grown adults who never watched a subtitled movie.
The father (Song Kang Ho) is such a great actor as well. If you havent, you should check out the movie “Taxi” on Netflix. A story about how a Korean town closed all access to the inside sieged by the Korean military. True story of a 1980 event.
This movie was spectacular.

I was hesitant to watch it because of the subtitles, but once the film got rolling the brilliant subtitles allowed the viewer to read them and look up and see the rest of the action for the scene.

This will win Best Foreign Film. It should also take home the Oscar for best film of the year. The cast was brilliant, the story was amazing, and the writer-director at the top of his craft.

(The trailer shows a scene where one of the actors speaks in English. Perhaps that was done for a fickle American audience, of which I admit to be a member. But except for 3 or 4 lines in English, the rest is in Korean. I can just see the Hollywood studios gearing up for an American version, with Margot Robie and Brad Pitt. But whatever they do, they won't be able to top this magical film and utterly astonishing film making...

An easter egg I found: when the Kim's dad gets the lever from the plum drink's shelf, you'll see Snow Piercer film boxes.
Everyone should watch “Snow piercer” a korean film thats also amazing I think it was made by the same director as Parasite. During the entire movie, only one single train comes out but the director really made it awesome. This movie is also about poverty-wealthy. cause there are different classes in the train,and its so different. The poor people in the last section of the train goes through every class and as the class gets higher and higher, the people in the class are richer.

First, I always give pause for Cannes films since it's generally over pretentious "film-viewers" who think way too deep. It's a freakin' movie.

As a US viewer, the cultural differences, not the class differences, is what got lost in this movie. Some of the social aspect which seemed such taboo are just "meh" in the US.

I think if there was an "Americanized" version of this, it might ring more true, but I have 0 faith in Hollywood ever making anything good again.

I absolutely loved this film. But we randomly watched this as a family film and the second half came and everyone shat themselves. Like damn that part was pretty traumatising.

Spoilers. don't be fooled. this is not a brilliant satire about the "real" south korea. it's really a horror movie dressed as quality. violence and cruelty abound.
Bong's movie is truly a masterpiece for the ages. I was honestly surprised to see such a turn in plot, feelings and actions. My heart was a roller coaster of emotions, laughing and being comfortably sitted and later on the edge of my seat, not laughing now but still rooting for them. The soundtrack was gorgeous, the editing superb, the acting was so genuine and looked effortless. This movie really spiked my interest not only in more of Bong's movies but in korean movies in general.
