-yuki-hi-

Alice Nine did it again, guys.

Just like Saga said in his blog, this album has a different feeling from GEMINI.

To me GEMINI is a master-piece, all the songs creating that amazing atmosphere.

So I didn't know what to expect from "9", of course great songs and all the songs they hid from us through the year of 2011, awesome guitar combinations, perfect collaboration between the bass and the drums and to complete Shou's amazing voice but isn't this what we always expect from Alice Nine? So what would be so different on "9"?

Well, I don't know how to describe it but it definitely has something different from their previous albums. They improved. You know, THIS is what differ Alice Nine from common visual kei bands...they improve, they experiment new things and still is that Alice Nine we all love.

So starting by Heavenly Tale, as usual Alice Nine albums always starts with a amazing song that actually is kind of a little introduction of what we are going to hear from the whole album. I really like this one, the guitar phrases are really beautiful and Shou sings it in a loving way + how the music flows when there are just the drums and bass playing (around 2:55~3:00) is really interesting!!

Then we have the Arc, I think no one has doughts that is a hard rock/ metal song, but not in a Tora way...in a Saga way, so it's more melodic. I absolutely love how Shou sings this song, specially the chorus another interesting point is the orchestra (you can hear it clearly between the guitar phrases around 1:44) and the kind of interlude you get from the guitar around 2:52 + the guitar solo in this song reminded of the solos you would hear from X JAPAN, I'm not saying that it sounds like X JAPAN (never lol, they are just too different) but since the members grew up listening to them, this solo may show us a little bit of their influences.

Followed by GALLOWS, that is a great follow btw. It seems like they are somehow connected by listening the intro but as we keep listening to it we can see differences, since this is a Tora hard/metal song. As always in Tora songs we can see the guitars doing a great job, but have you noticed Nao's drums in this? It's absolutely awesome. I'm looking forward to see a live version of this song.

花霞(Kasumi) is one of my favourites on this album, it's completely Hiroto-like. When Saga wrote on his blog that they had to shorten this song and that the original is 8 minutes long, it just broke my heart. Well, he said that they might do the 8 minute version of it in their concerts so I hope they do it AND record it (cough cough court of "9" DVD cough cough). The intro is slow tempo, just the guitar, Shou's voice and a drum beat in the back, it's the kind of intro that is absolutely beautiful but you keep expecting the time when the song will change to something a little bit more up tempo, then the bass comes along and it turns a bit up tempo around 0:57, as Shou keeps singing you can really feel the song going through your ears straight to your heart, it creates a image in your head. And it goes on with this gentle feeling. 1:41~2:18 of the music we can hear this instrumental part with Alice Nine members collaboring with the orchestra and then we have the guitar solo, as I said before this song is Hiroto-like...so is the guitar solo, all the deep feelings that this song has arghh it's so hard to explain!! So guys, pay attention to it, feel it!! And then we go back to a melody similar to the intro. The end of the song is also interesting, the guitar phrase and then that finale that we would hear in a live.

BLUE FLAME, I think we all know what this song is about already right? Great guitar combination, catchy chorus, great bass line and lyrics that fits perfectly with the feeling of the instrumental part.

(Hello, World) well this song is great! It has a Alice Nine-ish pop feeling to it. When we all think that the mos unexpected of this song is Saga, right? I mean who would imagine he would read(?) a poem in a song and along with those guitar riffs (which btw, reminds me of an artist but I can't really remember who right now), the drums follows in a gentle way. The instrumental of this song reminds me a bit of Gekkou Yoku, of course better but the way they work the guitars + bass + drums...it reminded me a bit. Also, "Hello, world" has a feeling of being the song that will divide the album but is not quite divided...well it's hard to explain it english...I'll find a way later to try to explain it ._.

(Niji no Yuki) this song is kind of special, not just because it's the first time Shou did the music and lyrics but also because it passes a kind of feeling that is hard to in nowadays Visual Kei ballads, it's easy to listen but has a sad feeling to it, like your heart is going to explode or something like this. My favourite part of this song is towards the end when Shou sings "kimi ga kimi ga inai", I really like Shou's vocals in that part.

リニア(Linear) well, what can I say? It's a alternative/pop song. It's one of the songs that I'm really looking forward to see a live version, because when you hear the album version you think "woaaah what a powerful song" but I think it will sound even better when playing it live. The bass stands out in this song and the chorus is catchy, it's also easy to listen and still a great piece of music as you can hear around 2:55~3:20. I really hope they release a Court of "9" tour DVD so I can see this played live.

Apocalypse [It's not the end] is by far the most interesting song tittle in the whole album and the lyrics seems to be as interesting (I just understand a little bit of japanese so I just understand some parts of it while listening). For this song, I think that really is a song that not just the bass or the guitars or drums or the vocals stand out, but the band as a whole.

Heart of Gold from all the 3 singles they released for this album in 2011, this probably was my favourite. How the guitars works together from the start to end, how the drums sounds a bit different from BLUE FLAME and GEMINI and obviously how the bass supports the whole song and hte most different about this song is Shou screaming, unexpected, I mean this song is kind of alternative/ hard song but it has a catchy/ pop-ish chorus that makes you want to sing along and then all of a sudden Shou starts to scream! What is pretty amazing.

(Subete he) first of all, great ending song to the album. At first you think you are going to hear a ballad, and the drums makes this military(I don't know if this is the right word) sound (like something you would hear from Larry Mullen Jr. from U2) and we keep wondering how the guitars and the bass will follow the melody...THEN, we hear this absolutely amazing guitars in a perfect combination, leading us to a up tempo, almost completely different song that makes you think "ah~ this really is Alice Nine". Around 3:37 you can hear this great guitar effect/ distortion <strike>(it really reminded me a little bit of SUGIZO but it can be just my imagination lol)</strike> and of course the guitar solo towards the end of the song and by the end of the solo, they finish their 5th album in a beautiful way...everybody playing together like were following Nao's drums, you know? Like in their lives.

oh god, never wrote so much about one album in english. Btw, I'm sorry if I had any english grammar mistakes, it's been a while since I last talked/ wrote in english.

There are somethings that I didn't talk about in this review, otherwise it would be huge and somethings are a little bit difficult to explain in english...so if I disappointed you guys, I'm sorry.

If you read all of this, thank you, I just wanted to share some of my thoughts about their new album.

-yuki-hi-

Hmmm não sei pq postar aqui também mas sei lá...just felt like doing it

-2011 -> 2012-

-yuki-hi-
