<title>Success On and Off the Zi Xiu Tang Pollen Capsul</title>

<title>Surviving the City</title>

<![CDATA[ I decided to subscribe to Weight Watchers Online and started following the<i><b>&nbsp;</b></i> Weight-Loss System following a move to New York City. Interestingly, I didn’t have trouble with my weight during college like so many others do. In college, there was always a big salad bar and a gym a block from my dorm. I had time before and after class to work out and keep my weight under control even when I was going out a lot during senior year. <p><b class="subhead">A steady creep</b><br>The trouble started when I moved to New York City after college. With graduate school, internships, a part-time job and freelance writing, I had no time for myself. Fresh produce was expensive and I didn’t have time to go grocery shopping most days after work. <title>The Starvation Myth</title>

<![CDATA[ Restricting calories during weight loss lowers metabolism1 because the body becomes more efficient, requiring fewer calories to perform the necessary daily functions for survival. Consequently, this can slow (but not stop) the anticipated rate of weight loss.<br><br>For example, if an individual needs 2,000 calories per day to maintain weight, reducing intake to 1,500 calories, assuming exercise stays the same, should provide a 1 pound per week weight loss (Note: 1 pound of weight is equivalent to about 3,500 calories). Furthermore, reducing to 1,000 calories should result in a weight loss of 2 pounds per week and going down to 500 calories a day should result in a weight loss of 3 pounds per week. <title>Extreme weight-loss 'miracle patch'</title>

<![CDATA[ Have we all gone stark raving mad?<br><br>The latest invention to prey on the insecurities (and insanity) people have about their weight is a 'miracle patch' which is sewn into the tongue.<br><br>It is apparently so painful it makes it virtually impossible to eat solid food. But hey, you can lose as much as 14 kilograms in a month, so who cares.<br><br>Promoted as an alternative to "more drastic weight loss measures such as gastric bypass surgery or the lap band", you can have the abrasive plastic tongue patch for just $2000.<br><br>Bargain.<br><br>With six stitches, the reversible procedure "makes chewing of solid foods very difficult and painful, limiting the patient to a liquid diet", says the Los Angeles plastic surgeon who created the patch, Dr Nikolas Chugay.<br><br>Dr Chugay kindly provides an "easy to follow" liquid diet plan for his patients "maximising weight loss results".<br><br><a title="" target="" href="http://www.7daysherbalslim.us">The patch must be removed after a month so that it doesn't "become incorporated into the tongue" and comes complete with side effects,</a> including sleep and speech difficulties.<br><br>Blythe O'Hara, who researches behavioural change at the University of Sydney, is not a fan of the 'miracle patch'.<br><br>"It seems a very extreme way to go about losing weight; and does very little in the way of helping a person make lifestyle changes that can be sustained over the long term," Ms O'Hara says.<br><br>"I would be most interested to see if there were any studies that have been undertaken assessing the effectiveness of such surgery, and honestly would prefer people needing help to lose weight spend their money on getting assistance from professionals who can educate and support them in making lifestyle changes both now and in the future."<br><br>More distressing than the fact that it exists is the fact that people are paying for it.<br><br>While in America, where Dr Chugay launched the procedure in 2009, only about 60 people have had it done, in Venezuela it is becoming something of a fad. Considerably cheaper at $150 a pop, Venezuela is a notorious hot spot for cosmetic tourism.<br><br>One doctor told Time magazine last week that since she started offering the procedure two <a title="" target="" href="http://www.7daysherbalslim.us">7 day herbal slim</a> years ago, she has seen about 900 people a month.<br><br>"At the start you can't even move your tongue for the pain. I've tried to eat solid food but it's impossible," Venezuelan Yomaira Jaspe, who has had the procedure, told Time magazine. "It's a huge inconvenience, but I'm doing it to feel better about myself. I was very fat."<br><br>Yomaira's 40 year-old aunt, Vilmaris Ojeda, who also had her tongue patched, told Time: "The real challenge is going to come once they take it out. Scientists are beginning to find a strong connection between sleep and weight loss.<br>Research Connects Sleep and Weight Loss<br><br>Several new studies suggest that sleep pays a key role in our ability to make better food choices. So if you're short on willpower and you don't have time to exercise, perhaps your best bet is to learn how to sleep well. The reason revolves around a hormone called ghrelin.<br><br>In 2010, researchers found that when people have higher levels of ghrelin, they were more likely to crave sweets and junk food. In a press release about his <a href="http://www.paiyoujiplus.org/">paiyouji tea</a> research, lead scientist Tony Goldstone, MD, PhD, suggested that if we could find a drug to block ghrelin, we may be able to reduce cravings for high-calorie foods and help people lose weight.<br><br>But wouldn't taking a nap feel better than taking a pill? Another study published in Obesity Reviews found that catching a few zzz's might be just as effective at reducing ghrelin levels. Researchers from Louisiana State University found that stress management techniques like sleeping and exercising help to reduce both ghrelin levels and the cravings that come with them.<br><br>But the strongest link between sleep and food intake came when researchers from St. Luke's - Roosevelt Hospital Center and Columbia University in New York did MRI scans on people who had been deprived of sleep. They found that when people didn't get enough sleep, they craved more junk food.<br>Sleep Better to Eat Less<br><br>Most of us don't spend our days reading dry scientific journals, so it might be easier to take weight loss advice from a noted fitness expert.
